Using Redemption Points to Sell Multiple Items

Hi,

We have gone through the Promotions and Coupons tutorial and I must say its quite impressive as how much can be achieved using Actions and Rules to customize samba pos to our needs.

In the Coffee Promotions tutorial we can only have free Coffee as a give away when customer has 6 points. Our scenario is slightly different. We give our customer points on purchases which we have configured. When the customer has 10 points they are given an option of multiple items such as Coffee, Cupcake, Cookie with 10, 8 and 6 points respectively.

So if a customer with 10 points orders a Cookie he will have 4 points remaining in his card and then he has more points say 20 or 30 then we have other items such as sandwiches, burgers, fries etc.

Can anyone help us (since so far none of my posts have had any replies) on how to configure the point system to be used for redeeming different items having a different redemption point value to it.

Regards

To use points for redemption you need to setup multiple currency and set a conversion rate.

As this become very messy, I prefer to credit their accounts with real cash (like 5% of ticket total), that way no one has to try and calculate the points conversion, you don't need multiple currencies, and it's just easier to understand.

Hi John,

Thank you for the reply. Well we thought of dealing this with multiple currencies but the problem we were facing was that all transactions get credited/debitted to customer account and we cannot have two customer accounts for each currency respectively.

Unfortunately we can't credit the customer account with Cash as that creates an accounting problem for us. Then our Sales figures get inflated and our Cash doesn't reconcile. Also most of our items being given away for say 4 points won't necessarily have the same dollar value. They vary between $4.50 to $6.50 so it would be difficult to manage this with your proposed solution.

Thank you.
