1.Tables no longer change colour when a order is placed.
2.when re-entering the ordering screen, The close button will not close untill another order is placed.
Could you please advise me how to bring back these functions.

P.S. Is there a way to export and import the menu items or reset the program to default settings without loosing menu items.

My guess is that 1 & 2 Are the same problem.
There is a Rule called 'Ticket Closing Rule'. It is a default rule in SambaPOS and I think it is messed it up. It should be as follows.
Rule - Ticket Closing Rule
Event - Ticket Closing
Action - Update Ticket Status
- Status - Unpaid
- Current Status - New Orders
Action - Update Order Status
- Status - Submitted
- Current Status - New
Mapping - *,*,*,*
There is no export and import feature. Before you make any changes you should always backup your database as there is no 'Roll Back' process.

Your solution has fixed the table colour change when orders are placed, I still cannot close a ticket after a order is placed and the ticket reopened, unless I add a new order.
Tickets will open and close correctly, without placing orders.
Its a bit of a puzzle for me, any help is appreciated.

I don't know what you have done. You can just install on spare machine/laptop and compare the rule you changed with the original one. You should know which action/Rule you have editted.
