SQL Express - Yes as it is a networkable SQL Server. Setup a separate computer (with mirrored RAID or atleast some SQL Server backup tool) to run SQL Express for the network. Follow this guide.
Compact SQL - Yes in theory, not tested and not recommended. Any network issues/outages could corrupt database.
